For more than four decades, the SASKATCHEWAN INDIAN has been a voice for First Nations across the province. It has also been the official messenger for the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN), and it will continue to be a forum for educating and informing the public.

The newspaper is an important media source. It is unique as it tells stories of success for First Nations people and the communities, often not covered in mainstream media. It is our goal to put SASKATCHEWAN INDIAN into every Aboriginal school and community in the province.

With our reconstructed format of newspaper from magazine, we will continue to provide current issues pertaining to First Nations people, places, events and issues facing our First Nations. By bringing SASKATCHEWAN INDIAN into a different level, we will share our success, spark new interests and inspire hope for a better future.

The SASKATCHEWAN INDIAN will be consistent on reporting issues and events affecting and that are of interest to First Nation communities of Canada. The newspaper includes Culture, Education, Sports & Recreation, Economic, Health and Social Developments, Constitutional Affairs, Politics and virtually all other aspects of interests to First Nations.

The SASKATCHEWAN INDIAN newspaper is published by the FSIN and has a distribution of 10,000 copies. The paper is circulated to Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal organizations, businesses and institutions within the province.

The Editorial Policy of this newspaper is determined by an editorial committee established by the FSIN. The SASKATCHEWAN INDIAN will strive to meet the needs of all First Nation organizations within the province. It will also be a constant and timely media source that people can turn to for relevant and informed opinions about issues that affect First Nations of Saskatchewan.
