FSIN Signs Agreement With Royal Canadian Mounted Police In Treaty No. 5 Territory

June 27, 2012, Traditional territory of Treaty No. 5 (Nipawin, SK) The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations signed a three year Public Safety Cooperation Protocol agreement with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The signing between FSIN Vice Chief Bobby Cameron and RCMP Assistant Commissioner “F” Division, Russ Mirasty took place during the FSIN Spring Legislative Assembly. The forum was hosted by the Eastern Sector communities of Shoal Lake Cree Nation, the Red Earth First Nation and the Cumberland House Cree Nation at the Evergreen Centre in Nipawin, Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan Chiefs In Assembly Were Not Consulted By Member Of Parliament

June 27, 2012, Traditional territory of Treaty No.5 (Nipawin, Saskatchewan) First Nation leaders attending the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations Legislative Assembly were outraged and insulted by Member of Parliament, Rob Clarke's (Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill) presentation on his proposed private members Bill C-428.

There will be a commemorative Day Walk from Victoria Park to Kinsmen Park, Saskatoon, June 20, 2012, 10:00 am. It is to remember all of the children that died while in the care of the province.

Chiefs Reject Bill C-38 May 23, 2012

NO HONOUR IN HARPER GOVERNMENT

The federal government is violating its constitutional and legal obligations to consult and accommodate First Nations Treaty and Aboriginal rights. The First Nations of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) are extremely concerned over the content of Bill C-38 and how it was developed.

SWAMPY CREE FIRST NATIONS WILL HOST FSIN SPRING LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY

After today’s conference call with the IGC/Executive Council, we would like confirm that the Swampy Cree First Nations (Red Earth, Shoal Lake, Cumberland House) will host the next FSIN Spring Legislative Assembly scheduled for June 26 & 27, 2012 in Nipawin, Saskatchewan.  We want to thank Chief Marcel Head, Chief Ian McKay and Chief Lorne Stewart for their efforts and hard work to make this a successful bid.  Details on logistics will be forthcoming very shortly.
