CANDIDATES DECLARED FOR FSIN ELECTION
(Saskatoon, SK) The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nation`s Credentials Committee is pleased to announce the names of the candidates running for the Office of the Chief and the Office of the First Vice Chief. The FSIN Credentials Committee received only one declaration for the Office of the Third Vice Chief. FSIN Second Vice Chief Bobby Cameron will assume the duties of Acting Chief during the campaign period.

Independent Assessment Process (IAP)
Indian Residential School survivors only need to fill out Sections (1) (2) and (8) and the envelope be post marked no later than September 19, 2012.
Section 1. Personal Information
• Name, address, status number, contact information.
Section 2. Indian Residential School identification
• Name of Indian Residential School, months and years of attendance.
Section 8. Declaration
• A confirmation the application is true. The declaration requires a witness.
The remaining Sections can be filled out at a later date with the help of a lawyer once the former student retains legal counsel.

Traditional territory of Treaty No.6 (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) – A Letter of Understanding (LOU) was signed today between the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations and the Saskatchewan Advocate for Children and Youth. This new partnership signifies a foundation that will build on mutual respect and trust to address issues specific to First Nations children and youth receiving child welfare, health, education and justice services within Saskatchewan.

(Saskatoon, SK) The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations remains optimistic about the future despite learning there will be a reduction in federal core funding from $1.6 M to $500,000 in the 2014-15 fiscal year. The core funding supports the FSIN Finance Department, Legislative Assemblies, Communications, Treasury Board, and the political offices of the Chief and Vice Chiefs. FSIN Supports Lawsuit On Behalf Of Day Scholar Students
(Vancouver, BC) The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) announced today that it plans to join a lawsuit by two British Columbia First Nations, the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc Indian Band and the Sechelt Indian Band, who filed a statement of claim in Federal Court on behalf of the thousands of First Nation Day Scholar students who attended Indian Residential Schools. The Indian Day Scholar survivors were left out of the $1.9 Billion Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement.

Budget Cuts to On Reserve Social Housing Program

August 7, 2012, Treaty 6 Territory, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan... The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) has learned the Saskatchewan 2012-13 CMHC Section 95 budget allocation has been cut to $18.7 million, down 30% from the year before and is expected to remain the same in 2013-14.

The purpose of the Industry Relations Forum was to foster the growing interest among First Nation leadership to form mutually beneficial working relationships with the natural resource sector in Saskatchewan.
