Livelihood Symposium Facilitation

There will be a series of reports, gatherings, and symposiums in the area of First Nations livelihood initiatives. The FSIN and SIIT will be hosting a fifth Livelihood symposium for recording decisions for the Table discussion regarding recommendations and policy change on the delivery of programs.

Elders Livelihood Perspective

This past May featured the preparation of the final report on the Salteaux gathering of Elders on Livelihood. The symposium presented a discussion paper on First Nations Livelihood issues concerning the identification of cultural issues that arise within the diversity of the economic community setting. In addition, preparation for a draft on the Dene gathering of Elders on livelihood will produce a final report by the fall of 2011.

Defining 'livelihood' in the Treaty Table is the challenge in the multi-regional Treaty relationships. Research and analysis on resource revenue sharing for relationship building is the task that should be applied accordingly, with the spirit and intent of Treaty as understood by First Nations.
