Revitalization of the OTC

The OTC was established in 1989 to make recommendations on outstanding issues of Treaty Land Entitlement and other Treaty issues. The FSIN and the government of Canada achieve a common understanding of the treaty relationship through the Office of the Treaty Commissioner.

The mandate of the OTC is to analyze treaty-related issues, develop options, and report to and provide advice to the FSIN and Canada regarding courses of action to achieve practical results that reflect the treaty relationship.

The FSIN is in the process of revitalizing the OTC to maintain the reconciliation of the Treaty Table, and gain perspective on economic livelihood with significant attention focused on public education and awareness on the treaty relationship.
