NAIG 2011 Coaching Application
Team Saskatchewan is calling for applications for the position of Head Coach & Assistant Coach. There will be a call for Chaperone applications at a later date.
Coaches and Team Managers play a very important role towards the success of a well-managed team. The personal time and commitment before, during, and after the Games is extensive. The Games take place from July 10 - 17, 2011, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. All selected Coaches must be aware that they are required to attend the Games as a volunteer, Team Saskatchewan will not compensate from time away from place of work.

Team Saskatchewan will send 1 Head Coach, 1 Assistant Coach for each team.
Under the guidance of the Chef de Mission, Assistant Chef de Mission and Team Saskatchewan Staff the Coaching staff will work with the sport coordinator and oversee all aspects of team selection, training, supervision and guidance of athletes attending the games. Coaches are required to abide by Team Saskatchewan rules and regulations, and other guidelines passed down through Team Saskatchewan’s affiliation with NAIG council and the Host Society.
Job Description:
Purpose:
To ensure that his/her assigned athletes are prepared for competition, and experience the social, emotional and physical benefits of participating in the 2011 North American Indigenous Games. To create an environment that promotes the maximal enjoyment of the Team Saskatchewan and the games.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
·Ability to work as a Team Leader;
·Excellent Communication Skills;
·Coaching experience within the Sport;
·Certification:
Must be certified Level 2 or be willing to acquire Level 2 under the National Coaching Certification Program or CBET equivalent in the sport in which they will coach. Please check Team Saskatchewan website for minimum certification for your respective sport. They must be willing to adhere to the Team Saskatchewan code of conduct. Coaches must be prepared to accept the duties that accompany a coach of Team Saskatchewan.
·Certification: in the Aboriginal Coaching Manual
·Additional technical qualifications in the sport of representation are an asset;
·Ability to commit to travel and evening and weekend work
·Provide training and competition opportunities for their sport
·C.P.R. and first aid is an asset.

The time commitment required by Coaches will be extensive through out the process and should be taken into consideration when applying.
