FSIN Chiefs Off to a 2 and 1 Start at the National Championships

The FSIN Chiefs junior men’s fastball team has a 2 and 1 record going into tonight's game against the host Nova Scotia team Murphy's Fish and Chips.

Earlier today the Chiefs defeated the Linwood Ontario Chiefs 4 to 1 to move their record above the 500 mark.

"There's so much parity at this tournament," says FSIN Vice Chief Morley Watson. "It’s too early to talk about the playoffs. A team may need at least 6 wins to get into the championship round."

The tournament has a grueling schedule with the FSIN Chiefs playing two games a day for the first three days then on Thursday the team will play three times.

"It's a tough tournament but we have some fan support here," says Vice Chief Watson. "Beatrice George, the wife of the late Denton George, is our honourary manager. We did this to honour the memory of Denton who loved the game of fastball and dedicated his life to our young people through culture and sport. Beatrice is here to continue his good work."

The Chiefs lost their first game yesterday to Quebec 6 to 3 later that day the team then beat Selkirk, Ontario 5 to 4 in extra innings.

The Canadian Junior Men’s Fastball Championships are being held in St. Croix, Nova Scotia.
