Common Experience Payment (CEP)
On September 19th, 2007 the Government of Canada began receiving applications for the Common Experience Payment (CEP) which is one element of the court-supervised Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement.
Upon application and verification, eligible former students will receive $10,000 for the first year of residence, plus $3,000 for each school year (or part of a school year) after that. The CEP application process will be open until September 19, 2011.
The processing of CEP applications for the federal government is a partnership between two departments: Service Canada (SC) and Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC). National Statistics can be found at: www.ainc-inac.gc.ca
